Who The Cooling Hi-Vis Short Sleeve Crew Is For
This one is for anyone who runs, hikes, or trains through real heat and needs to be seen while they do it. Road runners on shoulderless streets before sunrise, trail runners who share fire roads with trucks, people who train through a Gulf Coast summer where the air itself feels like a wet towel. If you overheat fast, sunburn easily, or just want one shirt that handles humidity without turning into a sponge, this earns a look.
Who The Cooling Hi-Vis Short Sleeve Crew Isn't For
If you train mostly in cool or dry climates, you will not feel the full value of what this fabric is doing. And if neon yellow is not your look for a casual run, know that hi-vis is the whole point here. Fieldsheer sells the same DriComfort fabric in other colorways if visibility is not your priority.
Cooling Hi-Vis Short Sleeve Crew Quick Review

Houston summer does not ease you in. It is already 82 degrees at 6am with humidity that sits on your chest before you have finished tying your shoes. I have ruined more cotton blend shirts than I want to admit training through it, shirts that get heavy with sweat by mile three and stay heavy for the rest of the run.
What I noticed first with this one was how little it seemed to hold onto moisture. The mineral infused DriComfort fabric pulls sweat off the skin instead of letting it pool, and on a nine mile road effort in July humidity, the shirt stayed noticeably lighter than anything else I own in the same fabric weight.
The mesh panels along the sides, back, and underarms do real work. On a longer trail effort where the canopy opens up and the sun gets direct, I could feel airflow moving through those panels instead of just seeing them there for looks. That matters more on hour two of a long run than it does on a quick loop around the block.
The flat lock seams are worth a specific mention. I have dealt with underarm and side seam chafe on cheaper technical shirts before, the kind that shows up as a raw line by mile ten and ruins the next few days. Across multiple long runs in this shirt, that never happened.
The UPF 50 rating is not a marketing throwaway either. I run early, but Houston sun still finds you, and on the days I did not manage to start before sunrise, my arms and shoulders did not carry the sunburn line that a plain tee can often leave behind.
Pros to the Cooling Hi-Vis Short Sleeve Crew
- Genuinely fast drying. The mineral infused fabric dries noticeably faster than a standard poly blend, not just marketing language.
- Mesh panels that actually ventilate. Side, back, and underarm placement means airflow where you actually overheat, not just where it looks technical.
- UPF 50 sun protection built in. One less layer of sunscreen to reapply mid run.
- Flat lock seams held up on long efforts. No chafe at the underarm or side seam across multiple long runs.
- Odor resistance that outlasted expectations. A shirt worn hard in Houston humidity did not need a wash after every single wear to still smell fine.
- Hi-vis color that does its job. Visible in low light, useful for early or late training on roads with traffic.
Cons to the Cooling Hi-Vis Short Sleeve Crew
- The neon yellow is not subtle per my wife and others eyes on runs, and if you want a shirt for casual wear off the trail, this is probably not it.
- Sizing runs limited right now. Several sizes were showing as sold out at the time of this review, so grab your size when it is in stock rather than waiting.
- The reglan short sleeve cut sits a little looser than a compression style shirt, which some runners will like and others will not.
The Cooling Hi-Vis Short Sleeve Crew Is Best For:
Best for long, hot road or trail efforts where sweat management, sun exposure, and roadside visibility all matter in the same run. Also available in a long sleeve, unfortunately no sun hoodie option currently is available.
Testing Conditions For the Cooling Hi-Vis Short Sleeve Crew
Multiple road and trail runs in the Katy and Houston area during July, including runs in the 80s and mid 90s with high humidity and direct sun exposure. If you’re from here you know how torturous summer running is!
